Introduction to the Theoretical Analysis of Dreams

Dreams are an interesting topic in everyone's life. In dreams, we can do anything, anywhere. The scenes in the dream are also bizarre, and the people in the dream are always unexpected... Some people believe that dreams have a certain predictive function, such as what does it mean to dream about losing teeth, what does it mean to dream about being bitten by a dog, and what does it mean to dream about a deceased person...

Psychologists have not let go of the study of dreams. In order to uncover this magical physiological imagination, several theories about dreams have been proposed:

1. Freud’s theory

The most famous one is Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams. The old man believes that we dream in order to fulfill our wishes. He has a classic explanation of dreams: dreams are the realization of unfulfilled wishes with modifications. Freud believed that these dreams are a collection of daily life consciousness and all have symbolic meanings. If you find the corresponding symbolic meanings, you can also explain your dreams and your subconscious content very well.

2. We dream for better memory

This theory was proposed by an experiment in which subjects were asked to try to walk through a maze. The results showed that those who had dreamed about the maze the night before performed better the next day. This is because the maze that appeared in the dream helped them remember. Researchers believe that specific memory activity only occurs when we sleep, and dreams are a signal that this process is occurring.

3. Dreams are to “clear the memory” of our brains

We live in the world and receive too much information stored in our brains every day. Although the capacity of the brain is currently unclear, too much useless information will hinder our ability to quickly extract useful information. Dreams then become a concrete display of how the brain processes information.

4. Dreams are a way to keep our brains trained

There is also a theory that when we sleep, our brain does not work like usual, so in order to continue the exercise, the brain begins to process the information in the brain itself, and various kinds of dreams are produced.

5. Primitive Consciousness Prevention Theory
