When burning incense, unexpected things often happen, such as the incense breaking or fire, and people will give certain meanings to these phenomena. So what does it mean when the incense starts to burn? What does it mean when immortals offer five incense sticks? What does it mean when the incense starts to burn? From the Buddhist perspective: Burning incense is not the incense of worldly form, but the incense of the Dharma of non-action; it can perk up all the filth, ignorance and evil karma, and eliminate them all. There are five kinds of the fragrance of the Dharma: the first is the fragrance of precepts, which is the ability to eliminate all evil and cultivate all good. The second is the fragrance of concentration, which means having deep faith in the Mahayana and an unshakable mind. The third is the fragrance of wisdom, which means to always observe one’s body and mind internally. The fourth is the fragrance of liberation, which is said to be able to cut off all the bonds of ignorance. The fifth is the fragrance of liberated knowledge and insight, which means that one’s observation and contemplation are always clear and one’s understanding is unobstructed. These five kinds of incense are called the best incense, unparalleled in the world. When the Buddha was alive, he instructed his disciples to use the fire of wisdom to burn such priceless incense as an offering to the Buddhas in the ten directions. From a practical perspective: If the incense suddenly goes out while you are burning it, it may be related to the material of the incense. Don't be attached to it. It's nothing. Everything is created by the mind. But if you can be free of mind, then there will be no problems.
What does it mean to burn five incense sticks to the immortals? The immortals burn five incense sticks, which means burning incense according to the method of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements, that is, five sticks of incense. Generally speaking, the immortals are composed of five families: fox (fox immortal), white (weasel), yellow (weasel), willow (snake immortal), and gray (mouse). The five sticks of incense are the five elements of heaven and earth, also known as the Yin-Yang Five Elements Incense. There are two ways to place the five elements incense: One method is to place it according to the five directions. In the middle is the leader's incense, on the left is the Azure Dragon incense, and on the right is the White Tiger incense. The front one is Suzaku incense and the back one is Xuanwu incense. Another way of arranging incense sticks is to arrange five incense sticks in a horizontal line. The five elements incense is a method of burning incense used by witch doctors to predict good or bad luck or to summon gods. The first incense stick on the left is the Azure Dragon, the second incense stick is called the White Tiger, the third incense stick is called the Pass Incense, the fourth incense stick is called the Dharma Protector Incense, and the fifth incense stick is called the Horse-Reporting Incense. The Baoma incense is the incense that informs the leader. If the protection incense is tall and bright, there will be disaster. If the green dragon incense is tall and bright, there will be good luck. Normally, the number of incense sticks to be burned is three, and you can light the incense according to the relevant requirements. You can also choose different numbers of incense according to different situations.
