The second is the fragrance of concentration, which means having deep faith in the Mahayana and an unshakable mind. The third is the fragrance of wisdom, which means to always observe one’s body and mind internally. The fourth is the fragrance of liberation, which is said to be able to cut off all the bonds of ignorance. The fifth is the fragrance of liberated knowledge and insight, which means that one’s observation and contemplation are always clear and one’s understanding is unobstructed. These five kinds of incense are called the best incense, unparalleled in the world. When the Buddha was alive, he instructed his disciples to use the fire of wisdom to burn such priceless incense as an offering to the Buddhas in the ten directions.
