Ten taboos of Guanyin Bodhisattva at home

1. When individuals offer holy images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas at home, they do not need to announce it to the general public, so there is no need to hold a ceremony to consecrate them. As long as the holy images are placed and worshipped with a pious and respectful heart, and then offered with incense, flowers, fruits and other offerings every day to keep them fresh, tidy and clean, the sacred atmosphere of the holy images can be revealed, thereby inspiring the spiritual heart of practitioners.
2. In order to keep the indoor air fresh, the incense burned should be fine and fragrant. It is advisable to burn one stick of incense at a time in the family Buddhist hall. Do not burn a large number of incense sticks to avoid making the indoor air turbid. Natural sandalwood and agarwood are the best incense. It is not advisable to use incense sticks or incense sticks made with chemical or animal flavors. In modern family Buddhist shrines, electric lights can be used instead of candles, and the offering table, incense burner, and candlestick should be cleaned regularly and new offerings replaced. At the very least, they should be kept free of dust or withered or rotten flowers, fruits, and food. It is best to have regular morning and evening recitations every day, or at least burn incense and offer water in the morning and evening. Before going out and when you get home, you should first worship in front of the Buddha to express your gratitude, respect, and thoughts.
3. When worshipping the Buddha and Bodhisattva statues at home, there should not be too many, too many of them, or too many of them being too messy. One Buddha can represent ten thousand Buddhas, and one Bodhisattva can represent all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Most ordinary families worship Guanyin Bodhisattva, Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, or Medicine Buddha, you can choose any one of them. If you already have holy images of Buddha and Bodhisattva, place the Buddha image in the center or at the upper back, and the Bodhisattva image on the sides or at the lower front. Make sure the Buddha stands out to show his dignity. The size of the statue should be proportional to the spatial location of the altar or temple, and should not be too large or too small. If the statue is small and made of seven treasures, multiple niches can be carved to highlight the greatness of the statue.
4. The dojo of Avalokitesvara is in Putuo Mountain in the East China Sea, so it is better to sit west and face east, so that you can echo Putuo Mountain in the East China Sea. Can increase spiritual energy and blessings.
5. Guanyin should not face the dining table. Unless your family has been a vegetarian for a long time, it is best not to put the Guanyin noodles enshrined in your home on the dining table. Guanyin Bodhisattva is a compassionate Bodhisattva who cannot bear to see any suffering among living beings. Naturally, she cannot do without meat when eating, so it is better to avoid it.
6. Guanyin should not be directly facing the door. The statue of Guanyin should not face the door of the room to avoid being hit by the door.
7. Guanyin should not be placed with its back against the toilet.
8. When you bring the Guanyin statue home, do not treat it as a valuable antique and lock it in a safe or place it in a secret room. This is extremely disrespectful.
9. Do not place the Guanyin statue in the bedroom to avoid nightmares at night.
10. If you want to receive more blessings and protection from Guanyin Bodhisattva, you can place Buddhist auspicious items, but you cannot place Buddha heads, etc.
