Giving up is the cause, getting is the result, giving up and getting are one and the same. Therefore, a person’s blessings are earned through his own cultivation and are not given to you by Buddhas or Bodhisattvas. Buddhism often says: "You make your own destiny and seek your own blessings." Will you get rich by burning big incense? This is purely about "using the mind of an ordinary person to feed the stomachs of the Buddhas." How could the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, who are fully enlightened and compassionate, care about whether you burn big or small incense and grant you wealth based on that, like ordinary people do? Of course not.
