Susan Miller's Cancer Horoscope for August 2018

As you enter August, you may still be dealing with the lingering details of the July 27 full moon lunar eclipse in Aquarius. The Moon rules your sign (regardless of where the Moon is located), so lunar eclipses are more important to you than to other signs and more powerful than solar eclipses. Next, please see Susan Miller's Cancer horoscope for August 2018.

The gentle Moon rules your sign, Cancer, which is why you may notice a lunar eclipse more than others. That’s why as August begins, you’ll still be thinking about what happened during the full moon lunar eclipse on July 27. The full moon is in Aquarius, so money is front and center for you. Uranus may bring unexpected expenses and cash flow may become tight. Or, the money you expected to receive might not even arrive in your bowl. Mercury is retrograde in your income sector, so that's not helping - checks are past due and you may be delayed.

The total lunar eclipse on July 27 in Aquarius 4° is not friendly, because it joins forces with angry Mars to launch a major challenge to Uranus. Uranus, which excels at "surprise attacks", is always like lightning and unexpected. This time, the news from Uranus is unlikely to be good news. That eclipse touched your eighth house of credit, bank and student loans, commissions, bonuses, court settlements, insurance payouts, and taxes, so it looks like you'll have to take on a large sum of money.

It is also possible that if you are getting a divorce, the court will rule on the division of property between you and your (future) ex at the end of July, but you seem unhappy with the decision. This creates a tense situation, but full moons bring closure to things in progress, so it's best to look forward rather than back.

You also heard from a friend during the Lunar Eclipse on the 27th of last month, so if you lent money to a friend and expected it to be returned at the end of last month, that probably won't happen. Your chart shows unwarranted financial entanglements with friends.

The July 27 eclipse lights your eighth house, which, in addition to other people's money, rules surgery, so you may suddenly find yourself in need of emergency medical treatment. If this is the case, the emphasis on money in your chart suggests that you may have been struggling to get your insurance company to approve payment. Most Cancerians will not require medical or dental surgery, but it may be a possibility for some.

You have been under tremendous financial pressure since Mars entered Aquarius on May 16, and it will continue until November 15. Mars usually only stays in a sign for seven weeks, so having this active planet spend six months in your eighth house is unusual and draining, as Mars has been forcing you to increase your spending.

Why Does Mars Stay in Your Eighth House for So Long? Mars began to retrograde on June 26, so Mars moved forward, then moved backward, and then will move forward again. Mars is temporarily making it more difficult for you to find new sources of income; whether you are freelancing, in sales, or working for someone else, it may be harder than usual to get a raise or a better job lately.

Mars naturally rules your tenth house of reputation and career success, but a weak Mars may cause you to get half the result with twice the effort. You fight back by working harder, but the odds are against you, so you discover how frustrating life can be when money matters are involved. It won’t always be like this; by September, life will pick up.

Let’s think about this. Mars has been retrograde since June 26. A month later, Mars' brother Mercury also began to retrograde on July 25, making the situation worse.

Mercury and Mars are still retrograde as you enter August; Mercury will station direct on August 18 and Mars will station direct on August 27.

The retrograde motion we feel most strongly is on the planets closest to Earth, namely Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Two of the three performed poorly. You can expect August to be a slow month and patience will be required. This is an unfavorable time for new projects or for reaching agreements. This is a good month to wait for a better time to start new activities, but you can use this month to review the work you have done and the decisions you have made in the past. Fix any flaws you find. Also examine your assumptions and revise them. The retrograde period is a time for reflection.

Last month, you experienced two eclipses, the first on July 12 in Cancer and the second on July 27 in Aquarius (a tough one). The July 12 eclipse in Cancer may open up opportunities and new paths, as it is a positive eclipse. (Pluto was in action, and all the other planets were fully supportive.) I think you might be boosted by that eclipse, especially if your birthday is July 12, plus or minus five days. The same is true if you have Cancer rising and are at 20° Cancer or plus or minus 5°.

You can check out the July forecast to review all my thoughts on the eclipses.

As mentioned before, the July 27 eclipse is challenging, and if your birthday falls on that day or within 5 days before or after, you already know that changes are coming to your life. Normally, after two eclipses, you should be done with it and have adapted to the messages they bring as required, but it's not over yet.

There is a third eclipse this month, occurring on August 11 at 19° Leo. This is a simpler, more positive eclipse, and if you have recently seen a decrease in money in your account, this eclipse will bring you opportunities to make money and put it back into your account.

The new moon solar eclipse on August 11 will illuminate your second house of personally earned income, and you will welcome its arrival. This new moon represents an opportunity to find a new source of steady income, and it is up to you to discover and seize this opportunity quickly. Opportunities will present themselves any time during the week after August 11th. To make the most of it, don’t go on vacation.

From August 12 to September 10, Mars will continue to retrograde and return to Capricorn, leaving your financial house for a month. This move by Mars will ease the high costs you have incurred and help you catch your breath.

Mars in Capricorn, your opposite sign, will still make you aware that your competitors are desperately trying to get more business for themselves, and they will feel good if they can take some of it away from you. You have to protect your income by doing a great job, and you have to outperform these aggressive competitors. I know, none of this sounds fair. Sometimes life is just like that, and overcoming challenges is one of those things in life where every subsequent victory makes you stronger.

With two powerful planets in retrograde motion, you'd better show some appreciation for those clients who have stuck with you through thick and thin. We often forget those who have stood by us unwaveringly because they stand behind us and out of our sight. Retrograde planets are there to remind you to look behind you and thank them for believing in you.

You may want to take some time off to rejuvenate on the weekend of August 18th and 19th, when Jupiter in Scorpio will form a perfect mathematical angle of 120° to Neptune in Pisces. In astrology, this is a trine, the most divine harmony you could ever hope to see.

Both of these planets are in water signs, like your Cancer Sun, so you will be able to feel the beauty and loveliness of this aspect. Jupiter will be in your fifth house of true love, and Neptune will be in your ninth house of travel, so going on a trip is a great idea. If you can take a four-day weekend, it would work best to leave on Thursday, August 16th and return on Sunday, August 19th.

The second half of this month will bring great news. As mentioned above, Mercury will station direct on August 18, and Mars will station direct on August 27. Although you've had a lot of expenses lately, if you're looking for new sources of income, the new moon, August 11, will respond to you.

Now, let’s move on to the most wonderful full moon of the year (not an eclipse) on August 26 in Pisces 3°, igniting a long journey in your ninth house. This will be one of the most beautiful full moons of the year, and you could have an exciting romantic experience at your destination—whether you’re single or not. There's a transcendental, spiritual quality to this full moon, so by all means, hop on your magic carpet and fly away. The ninth house rules other parts of your life, too, and those areas will shine for you, too. If you are going to college or graduate school, you will be excited about campus life. Obviously, your college courses will be implemented one by one. You have every reason to believe that your courses this year will be very beneficial and inspiring to you.

If you work in the media, broadcasting or publishing industries, you may complete an important piece of work in the four days before August 26th. It will be a big hit. Once you've delivered, you can travel with a clear mind - the story is done, and it's time to relax and have fun.

That matter you were worried about turned out to be bad at the beginning of the month (especially financially), but by the end of August, it is gradually turning in your favor and you will smile - after all, life is pretty good.
