What is the festival on the second day of the first lunar month? Do you know what the festival is on the second day of the first lunar month?

What festival is on the second day of the first lunar month?

The second day of the first lunar month is also called Welcoming the Son-in-law Day and Dog Day. On the second day of the first lunar month, married daughters bring their husbands and children back to their parents' home to pay New Year's greetings. When a daughter returns to her parents' home, she must bring a big bag of biscuits and candies, which her mother will distribute to neighbors and relatives, just like during the Chinese New Year. If there are multiple daughters in the family and they do not return on the same day, then the gifts will be shared one by one. The gifts are quite small, just four cookies. However, the affection it reflects is very strong, and it is truly "the gift is small but the sentiment is great", and it expresses the girl's deep longing for her fellow villagers.

Customs on the second day of the Lunar New Year

Worship the God of Wealth

People in the north worship the God of Wealth on the second day of the first lunar month. On this day, both commercial shops and ordinary families hold activities to worship the God of Wealth. Every family offers sacrifice to the God of Wealth welcomed on New Year's Eve. In fact, the crude prints purchased were burned. At noon on this day, people eat wontons, commonly known as "yuanbao soup". The sacrificial offerings were fish and mutton. The big businesses in old Beijing all held large-scale sacrificial activities on this day. The sacrifices had to be the "five major offerings", namely a whole pig, a whole sheep, a whole chicken, a whole duck, and a live red carp, etc., in the hope of getting rich this year.

Return to her parents' home

On the second day of the first lunar month, there is a custom of returning to one's parents' home in most parts of my country. Chinese people believe that a married daughter cannot return to her parents' home on the first day of the New Year, as doing so will bankrupt her family. She can only return to her parents' home after the second day of the New Year. On the second day of the Lunar New Year, married daughters would bring their husbands and children back to their parents' homes to pay New Year's greetings.

Eat noodles

A folk proverb says: Eat dumplings on the first day, noodles on the second, bring home steamed dumplings on the third day, make pancakes and scrambled eggs on the fourth day, pinch a villain's mouth on the fifth day, and eat longevity noodles on the seventh day. There are also: dumplings on the first day, noodles on the second day, and dumplings on the third day. Pancakes and scrambled eggs on the fourth day, dumplings with small figures' mouths on the fifth day, dumplings on the sixth day, dumplings with seven, eight, and nine, and keep eating until you turn the corner. Therefore, noodles are eaten on the second day of the Lunar New Year. In some places, this is interpreted as welcoming the daughter back home.
