Why unmarried couples should not worship Buddha How to greet the master in the temple

When we worship Buddha, our palms together look like a lotus, which grows out of the mud but remains unstained. This means that Buddha is not stained by the habits of reincarnation. Another meaning is that we compare the Tathagatagarbha in our own mind to a lotus.

Why unmarried couples should not worship Buddha

There are rumors that places like temples are too deserted, which will conflict with the rising peach blossom fortune and is therefore not conducive to the development of feelings, so unmarried couples should not worship Buddha. But this superstition has no scientific basis.

1. In fact, it is very common for couples to break up. If the two people have inconsistent values, including having no common topics, and they simply don’t love each other in the later stage, they will choose to break up. Even a couple who have never been to a temple together may eventually choose to break up.

2. Nowadays, young people are more open-minded and transportation is well developed, so many couples will travel to other places. If they find a temple during the trip, they will go to worship Buddha together. In fact, it will not affect their relationship.

How to meet the monk in the temple

1. In the temple, if you want to enter the room to pay respect to the master, you must invite two or more lay Buddhists (if you are a female lay Buddhist), and first you should snap your fingers three times outside the door. Why do you have to snap your fingers three times first? The main reason is that we are afraid of disturbing the monk’s meditation, so we have to let him know first. If the mage in the room answers that you can enter, go in. If the mage does not answer, just wait quietly outside the door. After entering, first greet and bow to the Buddha statue; then bow to the master. When the master says "bow once", answer "follow the teachings" and then bow once, and then ask the master for advice.

2. In fact, in the temple, monks are not allowed to receive believers in the rooms at will. The guest hall is the place for receiving guests. Otherwise, it will violate the "long-term residence rules" and they will be "moved out". It should be approved by the guest hall first, and as long as the guest hall master agrees, it will be fine. Generally speaking, lay Buddhists should first go to the guest hall, pay their respects to the receptionist, and say that they want to see the Dharma master named So-and-so. The receptionist will then instruct the receptionist to ask the Dharma master named So-and-so to come to the guest hall to meet the believers.
