The Origin of Thanksgiving Day and the Complete Collection of Thanksgiving Blessings

The annual Thanksgiving Day is coming on November 25th. What is the origin of Thanksgiving Day? Why celebrate Thanksgiving? What are the Thanksgiving blessings? The editor of Qixi Women's Network has compiled a complete collection of Thanksgiving blessings for everyone, so that everyone can have a happy and grateful Thanksgiving.

The origins of Thanksgiving can be traced back to the beginning of American history.

In 1620, the famous “May flower” ship was fully loaded with 102 Puritans who could not bear the religious persecution in Britain to arrive at the Americas. In the winter between 1620 and 1621, they encountered unimaginable difficulties and suffered from hunger and cold. After the winter, only about 50 immigrants survived. Based on the belief and custom of "cometers are guests", the Indians brought the immigrants the necessities of life and taught them survival methods such as hunting, fishing, and planting corn and pumpkins. With the help of the Indians, new immigrants from the European continent gradually got used to the local way of life. On the day of celebrating the harvest, the new immigrants from the European continent invited the Indians to thank God for his gift together. In the current widely known version of Thanksgiving, only the friendly relations between the two sides and the atmosphere of joyful celebration are often emphasized; but many people also point out that it is unfair to the Indians to only emphasize the joy and friendship of Thanksgiving. Because this will easily make people tend to forget the subsequent history of exploitation and massacre of Indians. Many people believe that the first Thanksgiving in the United States was the day when Indians and new immigrants first gathered together to thank God for his blessings. But for many Indians, this was not the first time people came together to thank God. For some New England Indians, Thanksgiving celebrations have long existed. These Indians hold six Thanksgiving festivals a year, and they hold Thanksgiving ceremonies according to different seasons. The thanksgiving ceremony held during the autumn harvest season is the fifth Thanksgiving celebration of the year for these Indians. The "origin of Thanksgiving" that is generally known to people is actually the day when the first European immigrants and Indians thanked God together for their gift, rather than the so-called "first Thanksgiving in the United States."
