As January unfolds, you seem determined to get your money's worth done. You may be preparing receipts to take to your finance person so they can help you with your taxes and general ledger for 2016. Some signs enjoy this kind of financial analysis, but you're not one of them. You enjoy making money but don't keep track of your spending. Even so, last month’s new moon on December 29 in Capricorn, 8 degrees, encouraged you to do a good job with your finances in January.

Talk to your finance person, and you may learn some sensible ways to cut back on your spending that you really like but weren't aware of before. It's also a good time to review your insurance to see if you have reasonable coverage needs, and if you have retirement savings accounts, to see if those investments are performing well and, if not, whether changes might make sense.

Mars will form a friendly angle to the new moon, so if you're looking to get approved for a good deal on a mortgage or home improvement loan, you're likely to find a suitable option. Money and property are closely linked now, as you have an advantage in all goals related to home, property, and family. Mars, Venus, and Neptune are all orbiting closely around each other and resonating harmoniously with the planets in Capricorn, which represents your second house of income, savings, and possessions. So you see, your house of home and family is directly connected to your house of money and finances.

You are very efficient when it comes to accomplishing goals in the domestic sphere. You may be moving or remodeling, renovating, or clearing out clutter. You could find a lovely roommate, or have a relative or friend stay in your guest bedroom (or couch) while they visit you. Alternatively, you may be planning to have some great fun this month. It looks like you'll be writing a lot of checks around the full moon, January 12. You may have anticipated this possibility and planned the corresponding cash expenditures, but I don't think you were able to do so because Uranus, the planet of unpredictable events, is in difficult aspects with other planets this month.

Mercury will be retrograde in your second house of earned income starting December 19, so money owed to you may be delayed in arriving. Holiday gift giving doesn't do you any favors, but everyone is pretty much the same in that regard. This month is unusual because you may find yourself in a financial crisis, but rest assured that this tension is temporary and will ease later in the month. But wait, the full moon on January 12 also brings good news.

Before I tell you the good news, I have to explain why you might be nervous. Because you have a Cardinal Grand Cross, Pluto and the Sun are both in Capricorn, both opposing the Cancer Full Moon in your financial house, ruling credit card debt and taxes. Meanwhile, Uranus in Aries is squaring the full moon in your fifth house of children, romance, and creativity, while Jupiter in Libra, your eleventh house of friends, activities, and socializing, will also add tension to the full moon.

Energy will bounce and collide on all four walls, creating a tense atmosphere, desperately seeking a way out but unable to find one.
