In November 1949, in memory of the children who died in all the fascist wars of aggression around the world, to oppose the imperialist killing and poisoning of children and to protect the rights of children, the International Democratic Women's Federation held a conference in Moscow. It proposed and decided to designate June 1 of each year as a festival for children all over the world, namely International Children's Day. In China, April 4 was designated as Children's Day in 1931. However, after the founding of New China, the State Council of the Central People's Government replaced the original "April 4 Children's Day" with "June 1 International Children's Day" on December 23, 1949, and stipulated that children should have one day off.
