The flower language of wintersweet is to bloom alone in the cold

Wintersweet is a flower that blooms in winter despite the freezing cold. Many people praise it. So what is the flower language of wintersweet? What is the language of wintersweet? Next, let’s talk about the meaning of wintersweet flowers.

The meaning of wintersweet

Wintersweet is also called wax plum. It also has another name called snow flower. There are many colors of wintersweet flowers, but golden yellow is regarded as orthodox. Some people praise it with poetry: "The branches are as thin as jasper, and the broken gold is especially fragrant." Wintersweet is a precious flower and tree in China. It also has its own status in traditional Chinese culture.

However, wintersweet has always been written with the character "虫" (insect) on the side, and this has been recorded in ancient Chinese literature. The most important thing is that wintersweets are not plum blossoms. Wintersweets mostly bloom in winter, while plum blossoms mostly bloom in spring. The buds of the wintersweet flower look like candle wax, so it is called wintersweet.

The Origin and Legend of Wintersweet

Wintersweet is a precious flower unique to China, and its origin is the Qinling Mountains, Daba Mountains and Wudang Mountains in central China. Large areas of wild wintersweet forests have been discovered in Shenlongjia, Hubei. In Liuzhuang Village, Yanling County, Henan Province, almost every household plants wintersweets in front of and behind their houses, and the village is known as "Liujialongmei is the best in the world." Liuzhuang Village has a long history of planting plum blossoms. According to legend, wintersweet originally had no fragrant aroma. The king of Yan State in the Western Zhou Dynasty (in the northwest of Yanling, Henan Province today) loved wintersweet very much, but disliked its lack of fragrance, so he ordered the gardener to make the plum blossoms fragrant, otherwise he would be severely punished.

At this time, a hermit named Liu appeared. He brought some wintersweets as rootstocks and helped graft them onto the yellow plums. In the cold winter, all the flowers withered, and only the wintersweets' buds emitted bursts of fragrance. The king was delighted, the gardener's life was saved, and this wintersweet was promoted and developed.
